I want some more romance in my life. For me that means I want to slow down for a time and just sit in the sun with a cup of tea, or to dress in something girly and frivolous. To have a carefree afternoon or two to notice how beautiful my life is. Here is a new portrait - my darling neighbor Susy - who has a romantic soul.
More soon, Lynndee

So much has been going on in my creative life, and by that I mean lots of ponderings about what I want to do with my art and my purpose - or do I even want a purpose? I have been down so many roads creatively and all of them have been wonderful in their way. I somehow want to bring all the experiences together, and now that idea is starting to take shape. It all means that this little blog of mine is going to go through some changes and move forward into a different incarnation. I'm sure you noticed the change in the banner. Did you know that I have been painting and drawing portraits since I was 15 years old? It is one of my loves in life. Here is one from a while ago.......
I have been looking back at all the images I have created over the years and that is helping me see a way to go ahead with my work. It has been interesting to note that my portraits really caught up my heart again. There will be more to come as things unfold. -Lynndee

I have a whole bunch of these steller's jay feathers. I find them all around our property and it's always a treat to discover one. And so a new illustration of a couple of them......
Also, I made a new fabric design for all of my crow fans......
And, it will be a few weeks before it is available on Spoonflower. I'm working on two feather design fabrics as well. Lots of things in the pipeline! I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful springtime. Leaves unfurling, birds making a blissful racket. Until next time, Lynndee

Finally the warm breezes and sunshine have arrived. Spring fever has arrived as well. Lots of clearing out the old and lots of creativity. Here is a new fabric design.....a flower medallion in a couple of different colors. I will have it available for sale in my Spoon Flower store as soon as I get the swatches checked over. It's a process getting the fabric out in the world.
It has been such a warm and beautiful few days. So many things are in bloom and budding. Here are the last of the crocus peeking out from under my ferns.
More fabrics are on the way. Everyday is something new to enjoy.... Lynndee

Hey, what's with all this pink? I didn't plan it that way, but it seems like I'm using rose and magenta so much lately in my new work. It could be that it's a happy color. Makes me think of giggles. Anyway, here is the newest....
Hope everyone is having a happy weekend! -Lynndee

These little flowers in my new illustration - Hellebores - grow in the shade around where I live. In the spring they bloom under trees, and I call them secret flowers, because they are not as bright and showy as the other spring flowers are. They have more of a quiet beauty that blends with the natural landscape.
I have moved my prints for sale to Red Bubble. I will still have my Etsy store, but I am making some changes in my inventory there. Stay tuned for more about that! ........I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend of spring, Lynndee

I wasn't planning on doing a post today, but I realized that it would be good timing because of the full moon. It got me thinking about how much I love the sunrise in the morning and the moonrise in the evening. Each magical and wonderous in their way. This first painting is from way back, and it is a watercolor, which was my favorite medium at the time. Once in a while I like to throw in some older works for fun.
And here is an illustration that I just finished. Perfect timing, for the 'crow moon' is full.
Hope all is well in your world today, and later you can catch a glimpse of the full moon -Lynndee

Slowly, slowly it is finally becoming lighter and we are almost to the Spring Equinox. I just completed this still life of a wild cherry branch. It smells so divine, everytime I go past the tree I cannot help but bury my nose in the delicate flowers and inhale deeply. They are early bloomers, and their fleeting beauty is so amazing.
Also, I thought I would put up another portrait. I started this one about a year ago and let it sit for a long time. I finally felt compelled to finish it.
And a little poem that speaks to me......
"For winter's rains and ruins are over, And all the season of snows and sins; The days dividing lover and lover, The light that loses, the night that wins; And time remembered is grief forgotton, and frosts are slain and flowers begotten, And in green underwood and cover - Blossom by blossom the spring begins." A.C. Swinburne
I just thought that was so perfect for the day, Lynndee

Each season is beautiful. Even if I have to look around more closely to see it, the season unfolds around me - glorious. It is late winter here and still cold and wet, but there are wild cherry trees blossoming on my brother in law's front property and daffodils are peeking out everywhere. The snow drops are amazing too. Their droopy white heads are bobbing in our afternoon's freezing sleet. I picked some to do this illustration - and I never had before - and they make lovely cut flowers for a little vase on the kitchen windowsill. They smell really fresh and they open up to reveal a beautiful intricate green design inside.
I hope you all can take some time to be amazed by the unfolding that has just started. I long for some warm weather right now too. I am satisfied with having some hope for right now.
Burr. It's cold right now, even in the studio. I hope you are warm where ever in the world you are right now, xo Lynndee
